Abstract: Some growth properties of 407 specimens of the mirror carp population introduced into Gelingüllü Dam Lake between 1998 and 2000 were studied in order to determine changes in growth over time. The data obtained were compared with those of other populations of the same species in other regions of Turkey. The age of the mirror carp in Gelingüllü Dam Lake ranged between I and V. The results revealed that this species, having a length of 20.8 ± 0.8 cm and a weight of 229 ± 21 g at age I, may attain a length of 53.5 ± 3.8 cm and a weight of 3389 ± 901 at age V. The mean condition factor for the mirror carp in the study area was 2.34 ± 0.02. It was concluded that fishing pressure on young fish threatens the population in Gelingüllü Dam Lake.
