A Research on the Use of Mediterranean Mussel in Feed For Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss W. 1782)

Abstract: The research has been conducted on the use of mediterranean mussel in feed for rainbow trout reared in sea cages in Black Sea. In the research which was carried out for 39 days in the sea cage unit of the Ondokuz Mayis University Fisheries Faculty of Sinop, 480 rainbow trouts with initial mean weights of 120 g were used. At the end of research, it has been concluded that it is possible to replace mediterranean mussel with certain amount of pellets in the rainbow trout nutrition. According to the prices in 1995, the cost of rainbow trout fed on pellet only has been found as 64050 TL/kg while the cost of rainbow trout fed on pellet+mediterranean mussel has been found as 37450 TL/kg.
