Effects of Ascorbic Acid Injection During Incubation on the Hatchability of Large Broiler Eggs

Abstract: The experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of ascorbic acid (AA) injections on broiler hatchability. The aim of the experiment was to determine if the late embriyonic mortality rates could be differed by heat stress. The large eggs (<70 g) were injected with 3 mg AA on the thirteenth day of incubation. This experiment consisted of non-injected, water-injected control and AA injected groups. Injection of AA decreased the late embryonic mortality (18-21st day) (P<0.05). However, injection of sterile saline solution (water) decreased the hatchability and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).
