Abstract: In this study, the gonadosomatic index value and flesh productivity of Scorpion Fish (Scorpaena porcus Linne., 1758) were investigated for fish caught in the Sinop region using bottom nets. With this purpose, the gonadosomatic index value of a total of 633 samples were examined. The gonadosomatic index was found to have a maximum value in June and a minimum value in September. The flesh productivity of females was determined to be 34.24 ± 0.014 and 34.47 ± 0.015 for males and 34.35 ± 0.007 as a mean. The results obtained suggest that fishing of this species, which is exposed to excessive fishing, should be banned during its reproductive period.
