Reorientation of Magnetization in Thin Films

Abstract: The spin wave energy is determined by the competition between uniaxial and cubic anisotropy. We discuss the reorientation temperature $ T_{R} $ of magnetization in two-dimension and calculate its dependence on the exchange, $J$, and the uniaxial anisotropy, $G$, parameters within random phase approximation. We find that $ T_{R} $ varies as $ \sqrt{JG} $ in the planar regime.
