Phase diagram of Sodium Nitrate in an Electric Field

Abstract: Sodium nitrite exhibits in an applied electric field the three phases, namely, paraelectric, ferroelectric, and sinusoidally modulated phases. These three phases coexist at the triple point. Using a phenomological Landau theory, we have obtained theoretical phase diagram of sodium nitrite. Our phase diagram is in good agreement with the experimentally observed phase diagram.
