Abstract: Polycrystalline powdered sample of barium ferrite was prepared in the usual ceramic method. The various structural parameters like variable parameters in the position coordinates of ions at different crystal lattice sites and the lattice constants were measured precisely using the neutron diffraction method. The distribution and orientation of the magnetic moments of the atoms at different sublattices at room temperature were investigated with this method. The saturation magnetization measurements and other magnetic properties like coercivity, retentivity and Curie temperature of the specimen were also measured.
