Abstract: Serum sialic acid levels of short term streptozotocin (STZ) induced diabetic Wistar-Albino rats were measured to provide information about the alteration of sialic acid levels in correlation with the duration of diabetic condition. Although serum sialic acid concentrations of alloxan induced diabetic rats and mice have been reported to decrease, the data of our study revealed no significant alteration.
