Abstract: Forty-six patients with chronic renal failure and 17 healthy controls were examined to determine their urinary cyclic adenosine monophosphate (UcAMP) levels. In the study group, UcAMP levels were found to average 1452 picomoles; in the controls, 4612 p. moles (P<0.001). UcAMP activity decreased in tandem with the decline of the glomerular filtration rate. Hypertension was not found to have and additional effect on UcAMP levels between the normotensive and hypertensive patients (P>0.05).
