ON SURJECTIVITY OF THE ARENS HOMOMORPHISM

Abstract: We define approximate separation and extension properties of a Banach lattice and study the relation between these and topological fullness of the ideal centre. Banach lattices with topologically full ideal centre are characterized as those for which the Arens homomorphism m: Z(E)''\rightarrow Z(E') is surjective. Among the positive operators T:E\rightarrow F between Banach lattices E,F we distinguish nearly Z(E) and Z(F) extremal ones and study their properties.
