Viscoelastic Behaviour of Composite Piles Used in the Construction of Quays

Authors: M. HİLMİ ACAR

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to investigate the viscoelastic behaviour of a concrete-filled steel tube pile with circular section used in quay constructions under long-term steady load. Deformations that depend on time are important for designing this type of pile. In order to determine these deformations, an experimental study was done on a real size pile. Variations in deformations were observed over seven months. The observed deformations were compared with the calculated deformations according to the proposed calculation methods. The experimental results and calculated results were in agreement. A creep coefficient was determined for long-term behaviour calculations.
