Abstract: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of acid and Alamine-336 concentrations, solvent types and mixing patterns on the extraction efficiency of lactic acid from aqueous solutions with Alamine-336, which is a long chain amine mixture. As diluents, solvents in different structures such as heptane, isooctane, cyclohexane, toluene and methylisobutylketone (MIBK) were used. Furthermore, toluene-MIBK mixture was used, too. The distribution coefficients were calculated and the loading curves were drawn from the experimental data. The best results were obtained with MIBK.
