Modelling of Field Returns in Industrial Quality Service by Signal Processing

Abstract: The return of failed products to tield service (post-production quality service) raises costs and creates a loss of contidence in the product and the producer. It is a fact that suppliers' material deticiencies have some effect on tield returns. In this paper, considering this effect, the relationship between suppliers' material deficiencies and tield returns was examined using an optimal tiltering technique employed in electrical engineering, and the prediction of tield returns was idenfitied with the prediction of the output of a causal tinite impulse response (FIR) tilter. Using the same procedure, the optimal choice of tilter vector was also determined.
