A New Mixture-Friction Factor Correlation for Vertical Upward Pneumatic Conveying of Solid Particles

Authors: Tülay A. ÖZBELGE

Abstract: A new correlation for gas-solid mixture-friction factors is proposed which is an extension of the work carried out in the previously published "solids friction factor" correlation by Özbelge (1984). This correlation predicts the mixture friction factors of dilute gas-solid mixtures flowing vertically upwards in pipes with an accuracy of ±20%, without the need for any pressure-Ioss data. This is of practical importance in systems where it is difficult to measure pressure losses.
