Statical Analysis of Compound Planar Frames of Straight and Circular Members

Abstract: The statical analysis of compound planar frames consisting of straight and circular members has been studied by the stiffness matrix method. The element stiffness matrices and the element load vectors of the circular members for the cases of in-plane and out-of-plane loads have been determined exactly by the transfer matrix method. Computer programs in the high-level language known as Mathematica, which utilizes symbolic algebra directly, for the statical analysis of compound planar frames have been coded performing the developed method. The results obtained from these programs have been verified by comparing them with the results available in the relevant literature and ANSYS program.
