Metallographic Observation in Deformation of Al and Al-0.7%Mg-0.5%Si Alloy

Abstract: In order to understand the micro structural development, pure Al and Al-0.7%Mg-0.5%Si alloy were cold rolled from 30% to 90% reduction. Optical microscopy under plane polarised light exposed increased number of deformation bands with increasing reduction. Previously polished surface was re-rolled to expose slip lines and determined under optical microscope.
