Abstract: In this study, two ternary zinc-aluminum-copper and two quaternary zinc-aluminum-copper-silicon alloys were produced by permanent mould casting. The wear behaviour of these alloys were investigated with a pin-on-disc machine The wear behaviour of the journal bearings produced from these alloys was investigated with a bearing test rig. The wear resistance of zinc-aluminum based alloys was found to be higher than that of CuSn12 bronze. ın addition, the bearings produced from the zinc-aluminum based alloys were found to be more wear resistant than the bearing produced from CuSn12 bronze. Of the alloys tested, the best wear performance was obtained with the ZnAl40CuSi1 alloy, while the bearing produced from this alloy had the highest wear resistance of the bearings tested. The wear results obtained from the alloys tested by a pin-on-disc machine were found to be in a good agreement with the wear results obtained from the bearings produced from these alloys.
