Abstract: A performance analysis based on the ecological criterion was carried out for an endoreversible Braysson cycle model that includes finite rate heat transfer irreversibility. The ecological objective function is defined as the power output minus the loss power, which is equal to the product of the environmental temperature and the entropy production rate. The maximization of the ecological function was achieved for various design parameters and the obtained results are compared with those obtained using the maximum power criterion.
