Distributed Memory Multiprocessor Communications

Authors: Muhammed SALAMAH, Semih BİLGEN

Abstract: Systems of distributed memory multiprocessors (multicomputers) with thousands of nodes are considered to be the most promising technology to achieve teraftops of computational power. This survey focuses on the communication characteristics of such systems. The main factors that effect their performances are discussed. This includes the node interconnection network; the message-passing scheme; the switching technique and the routing algorithm. Static performance measures such as diameter, degree, connectivity and others are discussed. The dynamic performance metrics like delay and throughput are addressed also Keywords: Multiprocessing, Interconnection network
