Synthesis, Characterization and Thermal Analysis of Organotin(IV) Derivatives of 4-(N-Maleoyl)Butanoate

Abstract: Organotin(IV) derivatives of the type R_{4 - n}SnL_{n} where R = Me, n-Bu, Ph, L = 4 - (N-maleoyl)butanoate and n = 1 or 2 were synthesized by refluxing R_{3}SnCl and R_{2}SnCl_{2} with (4-(N-maleoyl)butanoate in the presence of triethylamine using dry toluene as solvent. These compounds were characterized by IR, multinuclear NMR and mass spectrometry. We also studied their thermal behavior and calculated the degradation pattern, energy of activation (E_{a}) and order of reaction (n).
