Electrical Conductivity of Sodium Doped Poly(4-Vinylpyridine)

Abstract: Poly(4-Vinylpyridine) was synthesized by free radicalic polymerization. Solution doping process with metallic sodium was carried out. A conductivity value around 10^{-6} S/cm was obtained. Relative change in the coductivity with dopant concentration, temperature dependence of conductivity, conductivity behavior in atmospheric conditions for the samples were analyzed. SEM and EDX techniques were also used for the characterization of the polymer.
