Chalcogeno Ureas Derived from Bis(1,3-diazepan-2-ylidene)

Abstract: A series of new electron rich olefins (=\overset{|} CNR(CH_2)_4\overset{|}NR)_2, 3, (a; R = CH_2C_6H_5, b; R = CH_2C_6H_4-OMe-p, c; R = CH_2C_6H_4-NMe_2-p) was generated via the condensation of RNH(CH_2)_4NHR with Me_2NCH (OMe)_2. The C=C bond cleavage reactions of 3 with S_8 and Se provide a simple and straightforward method for the synthesis of 1,3-diazepan-2-chalcogenones 4 and 5, respectively.
