Abstract: The aquatic and marshy vegetation of 12 lakes occurring in the Marmara region of Turkey has been investigated. A total of 25 plant associations and groups have been observed in water and muddy places. The most, widespread association among these is Phragmites australis (Cav.) Trin. Most of these live in fresh water and in muddy places; whereas a few have been found in salty, brackish water and brackish muddy sites.
