Abstract: The cytogenetic effects of copper chloride on root tip cells of Helianthus annuus were investigated. Seeds were treated with 10, 25, 50 and 100 mg/L (ppm) of copper chloride for 24 h. It was found that copper chloride has a marked mitodepressive action on mitosis. Mitotic abnormalities were increased and the mitotic index was decreased depending on the concentration of the copper chloride applied.
