Abstract: A topological index (J), which is claimed to be highly discriminating and is known as the average-distance-sum-connectivity index, was used to investigate the topological effects on the activity ratings of certain compounds eliciting the alarm response of the ant, Iridomyrmex pruinosus. It was found that within the same class of compounds studied the corresponding J values exhibited certain but not perfect parallelisrrı with their activity.
