Abstract: In this study, the variation of total lipid and fatty acid composition in muscle tissues of females and males of Copoeta trutta and Barbus rajanorum mystaceus living in Keban Dam Lake (Elazig) were examined. It was observed that the amount of total lipid in muscle tissues of C. trutta (p<0.05) and B. rajonarum mystaceus (p<0.001) increased in June. The amount of total lipid and total fatty acid in muscle tissues both of species were decreased in August (p<0.05; p<0.01; p<0.001). The results of gas chromatography analysis showed that the fatty acid composition in muscle of both species have riched individual fatty acids. While the proportions of unsaturated fatty acids in female muscles of C. trutta regularly decreased in the reproduction period later (p<0.05, p<0.01), it was observed that the variations unregularly decreased in the other individual fish species. The results of our experiment shoved that the amounts of total lipid and fatty acid and individual fatty acids have been affected by the activities in the reproduction period.
