Effect of the Radiation and Some Chemical Mutagens (EMS, NaN3) on the Yield and Some Morphological Characters on Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.)

Abstract: The effects of EMS, NaN3 and radiation on two-roved-(Quantum) and six-rowed (TY 1976) barley was investigated. It has been determined that two-rowed barley is affected by mutagens more than six-rowed barley. EMS was found to be more effective than NaN3 in terms of obtaining desirable characteristics. Different radiation doses had different degrees of effect on the barley seeds; the 3000-rad doses had more effect than the other doses. Desirable characteristics were obtained in barley radiated with 3000 rads.
