Abstract: This study presents the results of a study conducted to determine stem quality and the homogeneity of stands of ash (Fraxinus angustifolia Wahl.) in natural and plantation stands in the central and western Black Sea Regions in Turkey. The results obtained from this study can be summarized as follows: (i) According to homogeneity index values, plantations are more homogeneous than natural ash stands, (ii) The homogeneity index values of natural ash stands and plantations are similar to the values of some even-aged stands given in the literature, (iii) There is a statistically significant difference between the stand value of plantations and natural ash stands, (iv) The trees at the upper stratum have much more stem quality than trees at the lower stratum in ash stands, (v) There is a positive correlation between stand value and diameter size classes.
