Abstract: The effects of 0, 1000, 4000, 8000 and 10000 ppm IBA, and the combination of 150 ppm putrescine with 4000 and 8000 ppm IBA on the rooting and shooting of softwood cuttings was examined. The cutting were at three different times, from both "Ahlat 1" (grey ahlat) and "Ahlat 2" (bright ahlat) types of Pyrus elaeagrifolia Pall. and from the "Ankara" pear cultivar of Pyrus communis L. The best results for both types of Pyrus elaeagrifolia Pall. were obtained in the first set of softwood cutings. In these cuttings the rooting percentage, rooting level (0-4), root length, dry root weight, sooting percentage, percentage of rooted and shooted cutting were determined as 11.4%, 0.16, 1.79 cm, 0.009 g, 0.0%, and 0.0%, in "Ahlat 1" and as 43.8%, 1.64, 6.52 cm, 0.199 g, 32.4% and 32.4% in "Ahlat 2", respectively. The differences in the means of all the IBA and IBA+putrescine treatments for these parameters were not statistically significant. The highest number of roots (11.2) in "Ahlat 2" was obtained with 8000 ppm IBA treatment the cutting collected first. In the "Ankara" cultivar ( Pyrus communis L.), the best results obtained were 36.2% rooting level, 0.68 rooting, 2.8 root number and 0.145 g dry root weight from the first softwood cutting.
