Abstract: The herbicides, linuron, diuron, propachlor, metribusine, trifluraline, propanil and glyphosate, which are effective in presowing period were selected from the large variety of the licenced chemicals of Turkey, were selected to be radiolabelled with 125I and 65Zn to trace them during the experiments. The highest labelling yield was obtained in propanil and glyphosate for 125I and 65Zn, respectively. The release kinetics of the radiolabelled herbicides were investigated for several types of immobilization matrices in stationary and agitated aquaous phases to give the ideal slow release model. Ca-alginate and gelatin matrices were selected to be the material for slow release experiments. 125I-propanil was loaded to the Ca-alginate and gelatin matrices, with the proportions of 27.40% and 15.57% of the initial amount, respectively. Similarly, 65Zn-glyphosate was loaded to the Ca-alginate and gelatin matrices, with the proportions of 9.47% and 79.00% of the initial amount, respectively.
