Abstract: This study was conducted to determine effects of various planting patterns on grain yield and agronomic characters of corn and legume (bean and cowpea) grown under intercropping at Tokat - Kazova ecological conditions in 1992 and 1993. Intercropping has significantly influenced plant height, ear height, 1000 grain weight and days to maturity of corn. The highest grain yields were obtained from 1 corn + 1 cowpea and 1 corn + 1 bean alternate rows. Except 1 corn + 1 bean sowing in the same rows, number of pods of bean and cowpea, branch number of cowpea and seed yield of bean and cowpea were negatively affected by intercropping systems. The highest seed yield of bean and cowpea were obtained from single cropping .
