Abstract: This research was carried out in two different dryfarming areas of Central Anatolia (Haymana-Ankara and Gözlü-Konya) to detect the effect of fallow and winter lentil and different tillage systems on wheat yields. According to experimental results of two crop rotation cycles, wheat yields after fallow or after lentil respectively, were in the same statistical group (i.e. no significant difference), in spite of a neglectible reduction of yield after lentil in comparison to wheat yield after fallow in Haymana. In this case it could be proved that sowing of winter lentil was more profitable instead of implementing fallow before wheat. In Gözlü however, whaet yield was significantly reduced when winter lentil were sown instead of fallow. Very low wheat yield after lentil could be observed in comparison to yield after fallow in the last year of the trial in 1994 when precipitation was completely low under average of region in spring time. Moreover in terms of N_1 (20 kg/ha) and N_2 (50kg/ha) fertilizer doses, wheat yields were increased slightly by N_2 dose but this application was not profitable in the economical analysis. On the other hand protein content of wheat grain increased by 2.12-2.15% after lentil in both location (Haymana and Gözlü). The effect of different tillage systems reduced tillage versa ploughing on the wheat yield showed no clear tendency.
